Consists of patients that are ambulatory, display appropriate behavior, participate in daily activities, are in

       school programs or who have employment.

    Example of higher function individuals may include but not be limited to the following:

  • Can communicate verbally, express her/his needs and wants clearly.

  • Can count money, use kitchen appliances, and be self sufficient in personal hygiene.      

  • They are usually categorized in tier 3 or 4.
